The opportunity
If you are a qualified solicitor with a background in employment law, then this an exciting opportunity for you to further your legal career within a world leading institution.
University of the Arts London's (UAL) Legal Services Team deals with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, providing high-quality legal services across the University, working on a range of student and third-party litigation matters as well as regulatory, academic and student related matters.
As a Solicitor (Employment), you will be willing to expand your knowledge and assist senior solicitors with student litigation, inquests and other contentious matters.
You will advise on and represent the University in Employment Tribunal matters and provide general advice on employment law matters. You will also help maintain and develop uniform legal practice across the University, by assisting with the establishment and maintenance of a know-how system which will cover University contracts and legal research.
In addition to this, you will build and maintain relationships with relevant third parties, and internal and external clients, as well as ensure that the University's IP policy is complied with in employment contracts and other employment disputes.
About you
We are looking for a qualified solicitor with a background/training in employment law, strong drafting skills and the ability to give clear and practical advice and training.
Experience of Employment Tribunal matters (including the management of instructions to external counsel) and experience of advising on Equality Act and industrial relations matters would be advantageous.
You will also demonstrate the ability to work independently and engage with internal stakeholders with support and supervision from senior solicitors.
The role may suit individuals with 0-4 PQE, however applications from individuals with a range of experience in private or in-house environments are welcomed.
